I just picked all the ripe nectarines off of the tree I have in the side yard. Unfortunately, they all became ripe at the same time so I have about 20 pounds of nectarines on my hands. This does not include the 10 pounds of fruit left on the tree because the birds had already started helping themselves. This also does not include the big branch of the tree that is full and leaning over into the neighbor's yard. I figure this pretty much keeps me from feeling obligated to take them some fruit since they can just pick it themselves if they wish. The poor tree had so much fruit on it that it was beginning to look like a Weeping Willow with all of it's branches drooping towards the ground.
So, now what do I do? What can I do with all these nectarines? I am not good at canning. I tried jelly once and that actually became "ice cream sauce" or so I told everyone. I thought about pie or cobbler, but these nectarines are so ripe they are even hard to slice. They are very juicy and sweet and some are very small.
If anyone has any great ideas or recommendations, please let me know...and hurry!!!!

Last year we moved to some property with a nectarine tree. I had no idea what to do with them at all. Then I found a recipe for Peach Crisp, and I tried substituting nectarines. It ended up being the best thing I have ever cooked in my life. And my family all felt the same. I miss my nectarine tree *sniffle*
Here is the recipe I borrowed from PW:
